People for Animals is a Charitable Trust formed to champion the
cause of animals as they cannot fight for themselves.
Karunashram, as our unit is called, was founded in 1999,
in Wardha (Maharashtra) and was developed as an initiative
of a few young people with the intention of protecting the
basic rights of animals that are ill treated, injured or abandoned.
Our organization has grown over the years and does many
activities such as stray dogs’ sterilization, anti rabies
programmes, first aid camps for animals, rehabilitation and
adoption of abandoned animals. Besides this, the shelter is also
legally authorised to treat and house wild life which it actively does.
Although our core activity involves animal welfare, we also
participate and promote various other welfare activities such as
primary education for children, unemployment issues and individualism of women.
